Himachal Pradesh is the favorite place for a weekend getaway. There are snow adventures, different treks, and the Himalayas; the food culture here is very different. It has its own specialty, a Pahadi touch.

1. Patande

Himachal has its own pancakes. Patande was originated in the Sirmaur district of Himachal. It is made from wheat flour, sugar and milk. This dough is made into pancakes into a pan. It is generally eaten for breakfast. To pair with it one can have jam, syrup. Traditionally, it is served with honey or ghee.

2. Aktori

This is another traditional recipe of Himachal. It is a kind of cake. Traditionally, leaves of buckwheat were mixed with wheat flour and made into a cake. Now-a- days, buckwheat flour is added to the wheat flour. This dry mixture is added to milk and water to make a thick batter. Like this, Aktori is cooked and served with ghee or honey.

3. Babroo

This is a kind of Kachori but sweet. It has the shape of a kachori. Wheat flour is fermented, then that fermented dough is made into discs or kachori shape. It is my favorite festive dish. It tastes delicious. It is garnished with powdered sugar.

5. Mittha

Mittha is sweet rice. It is a true Pahadi dish. It is prepared by adding a fried mixture of dry fruits, raisins, sugar and milk to normal cooked rice. To garnish, saffron is used. The cooked rice is layered with these fried ingredients. It is the favorite festive dish of Himachal.

6. Metha Kaddu

Meetha Kaddu/Sweet pumpkin is a dish made for marriages and festivals. Jaggery sugar is broken into small pieces and melted, it is added to the sautéed pumpkin pieces. The pumpkin pieces are sautéed in ghee. For adding flavour, all the dry fruits are fried and later mixed with the pumpkin. It can be eaten as it is or served as a side dish to rice.
