10 Foods inspired by Harry Potter

The Harry Potter franchise is one of the most favorite of all the 90s kids. Since the world got introduced to Hogwarts, we all have been dying to go there and experience the magical world. The butter beer was an instant famous, and today in England it is served as a beverage in many bars. Since then we have been waiting to be at The Great Hall in the school to enjoy our feast. Worry not, folks, we have curated some delicacies which can be cooked at home and enjoyed by the family.

So, here are 10 foods inspired by Harry Potter

1. Butter beer:

Probably the most famous one that was drunk by the Golden trio when they sat in Hogsmeade’s Three Broomsticks. The ingredients required are cream soda, butterscotch syrup, heavy cream, sugar, vanilla extract, melted butter. Combine the cream soda and butterscotch syrup and stir it. In a mixing bowl, whisk the cream till there are stiff peaks. Fold the sugar in along with vanilla extract, and then melt the butter until it’s no longer streaky. Ladle the butter beer and top it with whipped cream.

2. Harry’s 11th birthday cake:

We all remember the iconic moment when Hagrid baked Harry his 11th birthday cake, told him that the Wizarding World was waiting for his arrival. The cake was made by Hagrid himself, and anyone can attempt it at home. Mix sugar, flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, baking powder, and salt. Stir in the eggs one at a time and then add milk, vegetable oil, vanilla extract and mix. Add boiling water and mix it together.

Pour into two different pans, and bake it into the preheated oven. Till they cool down, mix the cocoa powder and powdered sugar together, add it to cream butter. Apply this to layer the cake. For the vanilla frosting, mix butter and powdered sugar with milk, take some out and add green color to it. To the main, bigger frosting – add red color. Here, it is ready.

3. Beef Sunday roast:

The Christmas dish anyone could enjoy. Roast a big beef slab after sprinkling salt and pepper. Roast it till it’s fully crispy; brush butter over it. While the beef is being cooked, cut some potatoes and cook them along with other vegetables, broccoli, carrots, and asparagus. Cook it with pepper, salt, and some basil/ parsley for flavor. Cut the beef in slabs, here it is ready to be served. Serve it with some bread. Sprinkle some coriander over the veggies and beef and enjoy.

4. Potato leek soup:

When it is heavily raining outside, this is the comfort food anyone needs. Cut the desired veggies, corns, green beans, peas, spring onion, leek, and potato. Mix it along with some salt and pepper. Add water and vegetable broth to it. Serve it hot with some chopped parsley. Enjoy it with bread greased with butter.

5. Shepherd’s pie:

The Great Hall is the place where all kinds of glorious food are seen. Ground beef, some salad, and mashed potatoes can be enjoyed at any time of the day. Add olive oil and stir it while mixing plain flour. Cook some onion in the vegetable oil, add bay leaves, thyme sprigs, finely chopped anchovy and chopped tomatoes, add minced lamb and mix it well. Then pour in the chicken stock or beef or lamb stock. Add Worcestershire sauce, salt, and black pepper.

To make the mash, add peeled and cut potatoes along with milk, butter, and egg yolk. Mix it well. Add salt and pepper. Grease the tray with butter, layer the meat, then layer the mash over it and bake it. To enjoy the pie, make a simple vegetable salad. Cut some carrots, tomatoes, radish, and onion. Mix it with the greens like lettuce and cabbage leaves; add pepper, olive oil, and serve it along with the pie.

6. Chocolate raspberry ice-cream:

On his first visit to the Diagon Alley, Hagrid buys him this ice cream. It can be made at home as it is one of the easiest to make. Whisk the cream, cocoa powder, and sugar in a bowl. Heat the mixture, whisking it frequently. Add raspberries to this mixture; let it stand for 10 minutes. Grind it and remove the seeds, freeze it in the fridge. Serve it with some fresh raspberries and decorate with some chocolate sauce.

7. Zingerman’s Reuben sandwich:

Mrs. Weasley used to make this delicious sandwich. Harry and Ron enjoy this delicacy together. To make the filling, slice corned beef, cook it in oil along with white onion and add salt and pepper for seasoning. To make the dressing, mix mayonnaise along with sour cream, lemon juice, Worcestershire sauce, and grated horseradish in a bowl. Add minced Spanish onion, sliced parsley, and minced dill. Take the rye bread and slice it up. Layer cheese and then fill in the stuffing, then the dressing. The most delicious sandwich anyone could ask for!

8. Chocolate frogs:

The easiest to make on this list, chocolate frogs require just two things i.e melted chocolate and frog shape mold. Melt your desired chocolate and pour it into the amphibian shapes/molds. Refrigerate for 2 hours and voila!

9. Treacle tart:

This is one of Harry’s favorites. It’s a sticky/chewy treat that is quite common in the UK. The preparation includes making a pie crust from flour, butter, icing sugar, and eggs. It is baked with a top filling that consists of golden sugary syrup, whisked eggs, and then topped with heavy cream.

10. Pumpkin juice:

Pumpkin juice is quite popular in the wizarding world. This, again, is quite an easy and heartwarming recipe. All you need is pumpkin puree and orange juice along with some apple cider. It is cooked and sweetened then topped with some pumpkin spice. Truly a great treat for potterheads during the fall season!
