We have heard about immunity, immunity, and immunity for the last few months. Everyone claims that their pill boosts immunity or some superfood that boosts immunity, and I hate to break it to you, but your immune system partially depends on what you eat and partially on your genes.

But, hey! Don’t be even upset, people who fall sick very often can change a bit in their diet and see drastic results. Also, before going to the 5 immunity booster food items, let me tell you that superfoods are always LOCAL. Hence, be Vocal For The locals.

Top 5 Immunity Booster food items

1. Turmeric

We often forget what we eat and disregard the Indian culture as primitive, but now Western countries are following all our nuskhas, so don’t let the world fool you. Turmeric is known for its anti-bacterial properties, but a lesser-known fact is that it’s a big-time immunity booster food. The best way to have it? Obviously, with your curries and yes, don’t forget that haldi dudh or, as people say these days,‘turmeric latte’.

2. Amla or Indian gooseberry

We all know that citrus fruits are the best when it comes to immunity, but the Indian Gooseberry tops the list because of its numerous benefits. Time and again it has proven its benefits that we have reaped. How to have it when it’s not in season? The answer lies in our old culture. We have been preserving a variety of different fruits, vegetables and even fish from time immemorial. So, we can have amla as a pickle or a mouth refresher or even murabba.

3. Jackfruit

Last few months we were flooded with memes after the Jackfruit price was increased after being proven beneficial for immunity boosting. It’s versatile as it can be eaten raw when made curry, its pickle is magical, and when ripe, both its fruit and seeds are enjoyed.

4. Garlic

Garlic not only adds a bit of kick to your recipes but also is an excellent immunity booster, all thanks to allicin and other sulphur compounds present in it. Though the best way to have garlic is to chew it raw in the morning and reap its maximum benefits, it works just fine when added to your curries and pulses. Definitely, add garlic to your diet.

Bonus: Ginger is also an excellent immunity booster food though it did not make it to the top 5, but I got you all covered. Ginger also helps release pain and pressure from body parts and helps in reducing cholesterol levels. Therefore, the next time you use ginger garlic paste to your curry, remember my words and add it as if it’s medicine because it’s no less than that.

5. Seeds

I could not stop myself from mentioning the entire group over here because it’s not just one seed, it’s the entire family that’s useful for you. Starting from the very famous chia seeds, sesame seeds, sunflower seeds and whatnot. If you don’t already, you must try my special recipe which hardly takes 2 minutes to make.

So what I basically do is mix different types of nuts (almond, cashew nuts, peanuts, walnuts and whatever is available) with different types of seeds and dried berries. These are readily available and make for a great snack option for that 6 pm hunger. There’s another recipe that I call my dessert since I have a sweet tooth and refrain from refined sugar. I make my protein chikki with jaggery and the mix I talked about above.

Bonus :

  • Chawanprash is extremely beneficial for immunity, make it a part of your diet.
  • Warm water is excellent for digestion, weight loss and overall health of a person. You must include it at least early in the morning on an empty stomach with warm water to ignite your digestive fire.
